A common response from people helping writers who asked the question, "How do you spell..?"  Used to be "Look it up in the dictionary."  I always had a problem with that because if you don't know how to spell something, how can you look it up in a book where the words are all spelled right and they are in alphabetical order?

Let's say I'm trying to describe a certain student in my class and I want to use the word "psycho" but I don't know how to spell it.  I'll never get anywhere if I dig into a dictionary looking for words spelled like "siko" or "scyko" or "sighko."

So, what can I do?  Think about some ways we can get spelling help and we will share what you do (or can do) on the next page.
